FRANCE, bronze jeton, Louis XIV, no date (1697), sack of Cartagena (Colombia), NGC VF details / cleaned. Feuardent-12913. As described in Arce's Doubloons (2025, p. 47), French commander Bernard Desjean, Baron de Pointis, sacked Cartagena with buccaneer allies in 1697 and brought as much as 20 million livres of treasure back to France (the event commemorated on this piece), apparently without sharing with his partners in crime! Modestly circulated with no apparent cleaning.
